Pump Body Assembly

The pump body shows damage as well.

There is clear excessive wear in some areas in the gear well.

It would seem that pressure exerted by the bent tangs against the inner gear would push the inner gear towards the wear plate. If the pump was properly lubricated, how did this wear occur?

A close up of the pump body showing some of the worn area.

The converter shaft bushing in the pump was damaged during disassembly by the distorted pump tangs. Notice the wear area of the bushing. What caused that?

Bushing Outer Gear Wear Plate

The spacing of the tangs exactly matches the deep gouges in the bushing, thus the conclusion that they caused the damage. Does this explain the grind looking marks on the tangs? Was this done to facilitate disassembly? Perhaps it was simply the result of disassembly which also helps explain the general condition of the bushing?
